Meet Great Lake Researcher Lars G. Rudstam

Lars Rudstam joined the Department of Natural Resources of Cornell University in 1992. He conducts research in Fisheries and Aquatic Science with an emphasis on fish and fisheries management. He is particularly interested in questions relating aquatic ecosystem dynamics to fish populations.

Current Projects

His current research examines

  1. long-term dynamics of Oneida Lake fish and fisheries including effects of cormorants and zebra mussels
  2. dynamics of interacting fish populations and importance of cannibalism
  3. role of predatory invertebrates (mysids, spiny water flea) in Lake Ontario, and
  4. development of acoustic methods to study spatial distributions of aquatic organisms.
